According to many years of practising Kobu-Jutsu and Kobu-do travelling several times to Malaysia, China and Japan to practice weapons including Okinawan and Chinese Oriental weapons from world renowned legendary Masters, Shihan Athula was looking for a traditional Ryukyu Kobudo style for many years on which have an older lineage.
Finally having contacting one of the Instructor Shihan Paul Vermiglio and inviting him to Germany for special training about this style, our Federation managed to become a member of Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Shinko Kai since January 2008.

In early 1970's Shihan Athula started to learn some of old weapons style which is coming from India call Sirambaram from one of the old master who taught only secretly to his beloved persons.

Later in the mid of 1970's on he started to learn Chinese Oriental Weapons also under the Legendary Chinese Grandmaster Chew Choo Soot -10th Dan, who knows 18 Chinese Oriental Weapons.

In early 1980's on Shihan Athula started to learn Okinawa Kobu-Jutsu. His first Kobu-Jutsu teacher was late Legendary Grandmaster Motokatsu Inoue -10th Dan.Later Shihan Athula learned same Kobu-Jutsu style from his son Hanshi Kosei Inoue attending several seminars in Tokyo, Japan who is now a present Grandmaster in his style.

After he met late Legendary Grandmaster Soke Teruo Hayashi -10th Dan, who was a founder of Okinawa Kobu-Do Kenshin Ryu and learned Kobu-Do for a long time. In 1991Shihan Athula obtained his Shodan from Okinawa Kobudo Kenshin Ryu Kai.

Later Shihan Athula met Kyoshi Yamazaki -8th Dan, who is an expert for Iai-do,Ken-do and Bo. Then few years he learned under him also some weapons including Iai-Do.

Shihan Athula learned and saw the variety of all three kind of weapons systems.

According to his vast experience in practising Kobudo he decided to affiliate to the Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Shinko Kai. With the help committment and support from Shihan Paul Vermiglio, our goals and ambitions are in safe and good hands and we all look forward to a promising career ahead in this wonderful art of Okinawan Kobudo.

As we believed if some one can learn Bo better, then it will mostly help to learn all the other weapons as its gives most of the basic knowledge for the all kind of weapons.


Shihan Athula said; "real weapons training is not just to learn a little bit kihon to learn a Kata. Its gives very nice and effective techniques which members can practice with a partners. Then we do some free fighting with partners, only using the techniques what they have learned. Through practicing with partners we can see the effective and dangerous side of the weapons training. Also it is very enjoyable practicing with partners.
